A new villain gets introduced, and a lot of guest stars pop up, in Action 841 (Sept. 06), the beginning of a three part story by Busiek, Fabian Nicieza and Woods.
Firestorm is the first guest star to show up, aiding Superman against Carapax. Or at least trying to. This matrix of Jason Rusch and Lorraine Reilly had never faced Carapax before, and was unaware that the suit is actually part of the villain. Even though Firestorm gets corrected by Superman, the hero is not 100% certain that this guy is the real thing, and not another impostor.
Nightwing, on the other hand, has no doubts about him, as Superman and Dick Grayson discuss the mysterious alien beams and robots coming down from space.
The Teen Titans get drawn into the picture as well, also investigating the alien robots. Cyborg leads Wonder Girl, Robin, Ravager and Kid Devil, but they have little success against the machines.
Still, all the commotion does bring the Auctioneer down to Earth to find out what is going on. He travels from world to world, finding and taking anything of interest, and selling it to the highest bidder.
The story continues in the next issue.
